My first instrument of this type was also the first intstrument I built after the flood. A 00-size concert guitar has steel strings, is smaller than a dreadnought and larger than a parlor guitar. I’ve found these to be very nice instruments, easy to hold with a little more punch than a parlor.
I’ve been experimenting with pre-aged top wood, Torrified Spruce. Torrification is a process where wood is baked in a nitrogen-rich environment that removes oxygen from the wood and hastens the aging process. The treated wood is a rich, golden color in appearance and tonally responsive. So far the results are encouraging..
