This section will document the construction of a 00-28 Concert guitar I’m building for one of my most valued customers. The instrument will have Koa back and sides, and a torrified Sitka spruce top. Torrified wood is baked at high temps in a nitrogen-rich environment to remove oxygen from the wood, thus aging it. Instrument tone increases with age and the torrification process is thought to reduce the aging time.
The photos begin with shaping the braces and building the back. Photos for subsequent steps will be added with descriptions of the processes being used.
