Ukuleles

Synonymous with Hawaii and the hula, ukuleles are small, easy to play instruments. They come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. All use the same fingering except for the baritone, which uses the same fingering as the highest four strings of a 6-string guitar.

From a building standpoint, ukuleles offer the unique opportunity to work with woods that are seldom, if ever, used in guitars. Due to their small size, materials costs are reasonable and the instruments can be built quickly. The tenor ukulele shown here was built with Pistachio back and sides.
